About Hawaii Vein Center
Established in 1991.
Our Cardiology practice expanded to this location in 2003 with full consultation services, ECG, echocardiography, treadmill stress testing stress echocardiography and Holter monitoring.. Our vein practice started in 2009 with vascular ultrasound services provided on site.
Free screening for varicose veins were started simultaneously.
VNUS ablation using RF energy was the mainstay of our varicose vein ablation procedures but when the mechanico-chemical procedures were introduced, we were the first in the State of Hawaii to perform the Clarivein procedure, which continues to be used.
These procedures are covered by medical insurance. We also perform a lot of foam sclerotherapy for spider and reticular veins with excellent results. Unfortunately, these procedures are cosmetic and not paid by insurance carriers.
We also provide compression stockings, which are required by medical insurance prior to ablation procedures and must be worn post-op.
Hawaii Vein Center’s mission is to focus on the diagnosis and treatment of varicose veins for patients in Hawaii.
We have full ultrasound services available and can supply compression stockings, which are required by most insurance companies as the first line of therapy.
In the past, the standard of care was vein stripping. However, we are now able to offer office based procedures that take 15 minutes with close to a 100% success rate.
Patients are in and out of the office in an hour and can go back to work or resume normal activities the next day.
